I've been meaning to catch this show...and now I simply HAVE TO! And great scene!!
Remington Quiet Riter?
Sure looks like a Quiet Riter.
Definitely. Though why take off the name plate? I do have an "Office-Riter" that's essentially the same. So it's a Remington something-riter (Fiction-Riter?).
Yeah, why remove the name plate? Seems unnecessary.
I expect they didn't want the viewer to be distracted by the name of the machine. The point is not that it's a Remington, the point is it's a typewriter.
When the new character set the "mysterious box" on the table, I gasped. My girlfriend looked at me like I was possessed. I said, "it's a typewriter." just as he revealed the Quiet Riter. She was impressed.
The box is gorgeous. Looks like expensive wood. Never have seen a quiet-riter or office-riter is such expensive clothing!
My guess is that if we ripped the cloth off many of our carrying cases, sanded the underlying wood, and varnished it, it would look much the same.
Now I want to do that!!
I have a Quiet-Riter, too, and the case is particularly awful. The latches aren't nearly as nice, though. But there's wood underneath...
...hmmm...
I got all curious, only to find that hulu's not streamed outside the US :-(
It is NOT a Quiet Riter, it is the machines that debuted in I think 1949 which was later replaced by the Quiet Riter and Travel Riter and Letter Riter. There is no model name on it, just Remington. I sold one of these last week, and I own a Quiet Riter, so I am pretty knowledgeable.
