Rev. Munk recently alerted us that Zooey Deschanel (or at least her character) collects typewriters on the TV Show "New Girl."
Now my wife has alerted me that Zooey's "quirkyness" was recently parodied on Saturday Night Live, including the typewriter collecting (at 2:15).
Typewriters are on the cultural radar for sure!

oh crap, I can't see this, not being in the US! I'll just imagine a girl with big blue eyes getting a excited about getting new ribbons, except acted by a man.
I rewound this one a couple of times to check out the machines in question. All in a sorry state of repair, sad to say.
Rino, she is actually played by a woman. Another woman refers to typewriters and "Zooey" says, quirkily, "I collect those!" Then there is a quick shot of some shelves with typewriters. That's it.
Just a passing reference, but we'll take whatever we can get!
