"MANUAL Typewriters are needed for the children and people of Bandundu Province of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). They have no electricity and therefore need manual typewriters to teach typing skills to their students."
Read more about this appeal on this Craigslist ad.
The donations are being collected in the Washington, DC area, and there is no lack of typewriters for sale on the DC Craigslist: see the listings here.
Typospherians interested in helping this worthy cause could contact the project organizer and offer to help to pay for typewriters for sale in the area. This way, there would be no need to ship a machine. But you could also send a spare typewriter to DC.

Thanks for this, Richard.
I thank Ping A. for bringing this project to my attention.
Thanks for the post Richard. I will check out what they need.
I have a Crescent that I can send and may soon have a spare Skyriter.
There's a coincidence. My 'spare' Olympia Traveller deLuxe S is Uganda-bound to work in the fundraising dept of a national charity there.
